2020.. The Year that Wasn’t!

2020 the year in review

2020! A year of unprecedented change, re adjustments, resilience and hope to reshape our world!

The year started with a bang… the usual parties, fun and all. Come March and the world was in a turmoil. We were all trapped in our own homes for days on end and no where to go. A big deadly virus brought the world to its knees. Ahh! The human race was locked up while our friends from the animal world ventured into our territories surprised, happy n free. Wish we could give them back what we have taken from them to satiate our greed and wants.

As the year progressed, I suffered a personal loss. My Mom lost her battle to cancer. We thought that she had won her fight, brave, positive lady that she was. But I guess the almighty had other plans for her, when the cancer recurred again. This time the chemotherapy debilitated her so much that she could not survive its after effects. I am shattered and depressed.I cannot fathom as to why it had to be her. I had hardly recovered from her passing away when one after another close family members passed away due to the pandemic. And like millions across the world who have lost near and dear ones to this deadly virus, I too had to suffer in silence, these tragedies.

And the year moved on, with hopes and dreams amidst this chaos with a belief that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Festivals have come and gone but all celebrated with lesser fervour and show. Weddings too were almost low key affairs.  And adjustments and reinventions had to be made in the business sector too. For survival in the race for earnings. People worked from home, shopped from home and entertained themselves within the four walls of their homes. But we are resilient by nature and slowly we began to step out, trying to adjust to the New Normal. Sanitisers and Masks our new accessories!

There are hardly a few days left for 2020 to give way to 2021. I sincerely wish that in the new year, the world will see a better, peaceful and safer environment. With vaccines promised, tried and tested  by leading pharmaceutical companies the world is hoping and praying for better healthcare in the coming year, a shield to fight the deadly virus.
