DIY Face Masks for Winter

DIY Face Masks

Come winter and with the pleasant weather comes the unpleasant effects that could leave you down and out, your skin. It just does not seem to co operate  with you. There are a plethora of choices as far  as cream, moisturizers, body butters and what have you.I am kind of wary of these as they keep your skin moisturized only for a few hours. Scratchy dry skin is embarrassing and uncomfortable. And if you have a naturally dry skin winter can be harsh on you. But Nature is bountiful and has a solution to your problems. You can whip up some ingredients in your kitchen and make a face mask that would help your skin tide over the harsh winters.

1. Papaya Face mask: This fruit is available through out the year and its anti oxidant properties are helpful. To a piece of papaya add a teaspoon or two of honey, mash and mix well and apply. This mask rejuvenates your skin, making it look younger and firm.

2. Banana Face Mask: Mash a whole banana well, add one teaspoon of honey to the banana paste, mix and apply.Banana moisturizes and nourishes the skin with its vitamin C, B6, and A content. It helps in retaining water in the skin thereby keeping it hydrated.Banana also possesses anti aging properties, and a regular use of this mask will smoothen out lines and wrinkles. If you are not allergic to milk or milk products, you can use cream or few drops of milk to the banana paste.

3.Honey and Milk Mask:This is the easiest face mask to make and most effective. Its good for dry skin.Mix 5-6 tablespoons of raw milk with 2-3 tablespoons of honey and make a paste. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. Believe me, your skin will feel moisturized.

4.Avacado Mask: These are difficult to get and expensive too. But a once in a while home spa indulgence is good especially when you know the goodness of avacado. It contains healthy fats, vitamins E and C, and carotenoids. It protects the skin from free radical damage and keeps it hydrated. Its moisturizing properties keeps your skin soft and supple.Mash an avacado to a paste, add a few drops of olive oil and apply on face for half an hour. Wash off. You can also use a few drops of honey instead of olive oil.The anti oxidants in honey makes gives a glow to your skin.

5. lemon and Honey Mask:Squeeze out the juice from half a lemon and add this to two tablespoons of honey. Mix well and apply it on your face with cotton. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse with water. But do use a good moisturizer after washing your face.

6.Chocolate Mask: Well this is not so easy if you happen to be a chocolate lover. If you can avoid  eating it you can use it for your face. Here’s what you’ll need: 3-4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, honey, 2 tbsp cream or yogurt, and 3 tbsp rolled oats. Blend all these ingredients into a paste. Apply the mask on your face for 15 minutes, wash off.Tempting?

Try these masks at home;they  are easy to make and don’t burn a whole in your pocket . This winter feel good and look beautiful.
