home remedies for hair straightening

Every second lady that I bump into now days, has a new look. The hairdo is what I am talking about. Every one seems to be ” straightening their hair ” and  after having done that, they are so conscious about moving their head, that it sometimes makes me wonder whether they are wearing a wig that would fall off. Hair straightened, they turn around to look and greet you, as if they have a stiff neck. So much for the time spent at the parlour and the money gone down the drain….almost if you dont take care of your new hair style and forget to make intermittent trips for a hair spa and what not.
Even though I do need a change from my frizzy, wavy hair and that almost zombie look at times, I feel its better to use the ingredients at home and look different occasionally. So, for the lazy ones like me or for the busy beez who do not have time to make it to the beauty salon.. you may try these at home.(of course these are not permanent hair straighteners but they do not damage your hair). So, here goes…

1.Egg and Yoghurt Mask
Whip eggs till nice and frothy. Add a spoon of yoghurt. Apply evenly on scalp.Leave the mask for 30 minutes. Wash with mild shampoo.

2. Lemon Juice and Coconut Milk
This is an effective hair mask for straight hair. Infact, coconut milk is considered a good hair conditioner.
Mix the juice of a lemon and coconut milk proportionately to hair and leave on for 20 minutes before washing hair.

3.Milk Hair Mask.
Put milk in a hair spray bottle and spray on hair. Keep it on for half an hour after which, wash with a mild shampoo.Be sure that your hair does not smell of milk,so rinse well.

4. Banana Hair Mask.
Depending on the length of your hair, use 1-2 ripe bananas and mash well. You may add a table spoon or two of honey, curd and olive oil. Mix well and apply. This is one of my favourite and even without the curd and olive oil, hair looks straight and in place.

5.Apple Cider Vinegar
After a hair wash, apply a few drops of apple cider vinegar in a mug of water, mix well and apply to hair. Leave it for 10 – 5 minutes and then rinse off.ACV adds that gloss to your hair.

6.Hibuscus Hair Mask
Wash and clean hibuscus leaves. When soft, add a few drops of milk and olive oil and blend well.Apply the paste smoothly on your hair.Leave for 20 minutes and then wash.

7.Potato Hair Mask
Grate 1 large potato and extract its juice.Mix with 2 tablespoons of honey and two tablespoons of aloe vera gel(fresh preferred).Add to scalp and leave on for at least 2 hours.Wash well.

8.Castor Oil
Depending on the length of your hair, take 2-3 tablespoons of castor oil and heat. While the oil is still little warm, apply to hair. For better effect, add a hot towel and wrap your hair before washing.

9.Egg Yolk and Bananas
Take a ripe banana and the yolk of one egg.Mix well an add to hair.

10.Honey Hair Mask
Take 1 tablespoon of honey. To that, add a yolk of an egg, castor oil and vitmin A and E capsules(break into the mix)and make a fine paste. Apply to hair. Wrap hair towel for an hour. Rinse well.
